5 days, 5 dashboards, 5 websites - 4/5

Day 4. You really didn't expect me to work on a weekend, right?

Dashboard 4: CDE Demo

This one is probably familiar if you installed CDE before, as it's included in the main distribution. A very simple example of what can be done in about one hour with the tool. This is not a standard Dashboard, with lots of KPI's, but more of a documentation-oriented approach, which can be very useful. Even though CDE can hardly be placed on the same league as a wiki or any of it's relatives, the truth is that since it's remotely accessible to edition it can definitely be used like that.

Try it here

Site 4: cde.webdetails.org

The crown jewel, CDE was initially started (like most of the others) for the Mozilla project. Starting as a proof of concept, quickly proved to be a boost of productivity. With almost 2 years since it's initial version, is now a mature project with tons of optimizations for both editing and rendering dashboards.

  1. Funny effect when you sort customer names: background color of the table changes to old style.

And one other bug: when you disable some area by clicking the legend, click action does not work correctly: it passes wrong parameter!

But still, it's a nice, short demo! :)

  2. Issue one was a missing css override. Fixed.

Issue two was actually a bug! Thanks for noticing and... fixed!

  3. Hi Pedro...I'm new with Pentaho and I'm trying to use CDE. The thing is, I want to integrate www.ammap.com in a dashboard using CDE but I can't solve it and it's hard to find documentation about xactions and how to integrate flash projects.

Any ideas? where can I find documentation/examples/help?

    Thanks!

  4. Your best bet is to look at existing components. May not be trivial to add complex ones, it's always a very specific issue.

But.... flash? On the 21st century? ;)

  5. hahaha...yes, flash...I don't like it so much, but I need a clickable map of my country and ammap.com is the only solution I found...

If you know a differt solution without flash..I'll try it!

    Thanks for your answer!
